Calisthenics is concerned with progression in exercise. There are several elements that can be used to make training more difficult and taxing. It can increase the strength of a person’s body resistance. The exercise is still only using your own body weight as the basic thing in exercise.
Why is development in calisthenics necessary?
Development in exercise is very important to make a person stronger and more energetic than usual. A person’s body is limited by muscle mass because it is limited according to individual ability. But with training that requires a person to work harder, it is able to build more muscle mass and further increase the strength of an individual.
1. Increasing range of motion
A complete workout can be done by putting distance limited movement to make it easier or harder. As example doing “Handstand Push up”.
Reduce the difficulty level of training
You can reduce the range of motion by placing a few books under the head to support the body weight after lowering it just the first few inches towards the book. Remove the books one by one to further increase the difficulty level of this exercise.

Increase the difficulty level of the training
After mastering the “push up handstand”, you can also use this method to increase the difficulty by increasing the distance of the training movement. Raise both hands to increase the height and distance of the head to reach the surface of the floor.

2. Adding weight
This way is effective to advance and improve our ability in training from one step to the next the next step. As example doing “Plank”.
Increase the difficulty level of the training
If doing the “Plank” is too easy for you and you want to increase the level of difficulty, you can place a weight on the back of the waist to give a little impact in the exercise.

3. Changing position of body
In this method, you need to change the position of the body to make the exercise easier or harder. As example doing “Push up”.
Reduce the difficulty level of training
Placing the hands at a higher level than the position of the feet can reduce the difficulty level of “push up”. (Incline Pushup)

Increase the difficulty level of the training
Placing the feet at a higher level than the position of the hands can increase the level of difficulty of the “push up”. (Decline Pushup)

4. Combining difficult and easy exercises
In this method, you need to combine two exercises that the easy and the difficult become a complete exercise. As example doing “Planche + Push up”.
The negative part of the movement where the arm is bent when going down while doing a “push up” is stronger than during the positive movement where the arm is straight when going up. “Push up” which may be too common can be done with “planche” where the feet do not touch the floor. You can also increase the difficulty by placing weights on the body.

5. Combining exercises into more complex moves
Adding weight to movement is not the only method of increasing training. You can also combine two types of exercises that use full body weight into one complex exercise. As example doing “Muscle Up + Front Levers”.
If you are good at doing “Muscle Up” and “Front Levers”, combine them into one complete exercise. Start with “Muscle Up” and continue to “Front Levers”. Do it as a complete set to increase the difficulty in calisthenics exercises.

6. Bend the rules and have fun
It is very important that you do an exercise with high interest and a sense of fun to maintain the exercise you do to continue to last. Doing an exercise with the wrong “form” does not become a forbidden thing, but our achievement rate will be affected by the exercise that does not follow the correct “form”, and maybe the results we get are not the same as others who follow the correct training rules. But, what’s the point of training without comfort and fun, it doesn’t matter if you make mistakes or are weak in getting the right “form”. Just improve from time to time without leaving the basic training in the right way. You can definitely get it if you practice continuously. Fix weaknesses and not always do the same weaknesses.
